Recap: West Boca Raton Bulls vs. Santaluces Chiefs

The West Boca Raton Bulls's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss. They fell to Santaluces 26-20. West Boca Raton was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Santaluces apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2019.

Santaluces found their leader in underclassman Makaylah Wayde, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Wayde has scored at least a third of Santaluces' points. Lyiah Gaitor was another key contributor, scoring three points along with 11 rebounds and six blocks.

West Boca Raton bumped their record down to 4-12 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.8 points per game. As for Santaluces, their victory bumped their record up to 4-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Boca Raton won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Park Vista at 7:00 p.m. on January 18th. As for Santaluces, they will head out on the road to take on Grandview Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Grandview Prep is ranked 483rd, while Santaluces is ranked 491st).
