Soccer Game Preview: Cesar Chavez vs. South Mountain

Cesar Chavez and South Mountain are an even 3-3 against one another since January of 2016, but likely not for long. The Cesar Chavez Champions will look to defend their home pitch on Friday against the South Mountain Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. South Mountain took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Cesar Chavez, who comes in off a win.

On Wednesday, Cesar Chavez got the win against West Point by a conclusive 4-1. Considering the Champions have won eight games by more than two goals this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when South Mountain duked it out withMaryvale on Tuesday. South Mountain fell just short of Maryvale by a score of 1-0. The loss continues a trend for the Jaguars in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now lost five in a row.

Cesar Chavez's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-5. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 15 goals over those three contests. As for South Mountain, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-8.

Cesar Chavez took their win against South Mountain in their previous meeting back in December of 2022 by a conclusive 3-0. Will Cesar Chavez repeat their success, or does South Mountain have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
