Softball Game Preview: Marshall Barristers vs. Franklin Panthers

The Marshall Barristers are taking a road trip to square off against the Franklin Panthers at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Marshall is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.

Wilson hit Marshall with a four-run seventh inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Barristers fell just short of the Mules by a score of 5-4.

Jasmine Davila was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she struck out six batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off ten hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Shyanne Velis made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and earned one RBI, two runs, and two stolen bases. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

Meanwhile, Franklin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They lost 17-1 to Bravo.

Rianna Beasley was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run. She also put up an RBI, which was her first of the season.

Marshall's record now sits at 3-6. As for Franklin, their record is now 1-10.

Marshall skirted past Franklin 2-0 in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Barristers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
