Basketball Recap: Stafford Takes a Loss

Stafford was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. The game between them and the Royal Falcons didn't end well, with the Stafford Spartans falling 58-44. The Spartans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Falcons earlier this season, when they won 53-49.

Despite the defeat, Stafford saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Mikya Williams dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Williams a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Deloni Hall, who posted six points and eight steals.

Even though they lost, Stafford smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in four consecutive matches.

Stafford's loss dropped their record down to 10-16. As for Royal, they moved to 7-9 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Stafford has already played their next contest, a 1-0 win against Harmony School of Innovation on the 21st. As for Royal, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 62-40 victory against Harmony School of Innovation Sugar Land on the 21st.
