Baseball Recap: Roswell Find Success

The Roswell Coyotes narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Denver City Mustangs 9-8.

Abey Tescano made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three). He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Davian Dominguez was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Roswell is 2-1 when Dominguez posts two or more runs, but 3-8 otherwise. Elias Lujan was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-5.

Roswell was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Roswell's record is now 5-9. As for Denver City, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-5.

Looking ahead, Roswell will be playing in front of their home fans against Portales at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Denver City, they will head out to face off against Compass Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Denver City's pitchers better be ready for this one: Compass Academy has averaged an impressive 8.5 runs per game this season.
