Recap: Preble Shawnee Arrows vs. Franklin Monroe Jets
This season hasn't been kind to the Preble Shawnee Arrows, who are still winless after their seventh match. They fell just short of Franklin Monroe by a score of 43-41. Preble Shawnee was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Franklin Monroe apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Preble Shawnee's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ashleigh Mondello-garrett, who scored five points along with 12 rebounds and four steals. That's the first time this season that Mondello-garrett pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Autumn Smith, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.
Preble Shawnee bumped their record down to 0-7 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Franklin Monroe, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Preble Shawnee will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Oakwood at 12:00 p.m. on December 30th. Oakwood presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Preble Shawnee in Ohio (Oakwood is ranked 345th, while Preble Shawnee is ranked 762nd). As for Franklin Monroe, they will head out on the road to face off against Jonathan Alder at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Jonathan Alder will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
