Volleyball Recap: Rock Port Snaps Seven-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Rock Port was the 3-1 winner over Mound City when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Blue Jays fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 3-2 on Thursday.

While Rock Port ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least ten points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-20, 24-26, 21-25, 15-10.

Despite the loss, Rock Port saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Raylynn Jenkins had ten digs and two aces. Jenkins has been hot recently, having also posted 13 or more assists the last four times she's played. Presley Carlson was another key player, getting 12 digs and one assist.

Rock Port's defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-2. As for Mound City, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Rock Port didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 win against East Atchison [Tarkio/Fairfax] on the 6th. Mound City has also already played their next game (against West Nodaway), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
