Softball Recap: Baldwin Comes Up Short

Baldwin extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 5-5 in the process. They lost 9-0 to the Spring Hill Broncos. If the Bulldogs were looking for revenge after losing 18-1 to the Broncos when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Spring Hill, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-4. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matchups by seven runs or more this season.

For Spring Hill's part, Jaleigh White made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over six innings pitched. White was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two runs.

In other pitching news, Jayden Kistner looked comfortable as she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, Spring Hill let Olivia Fraley and Nora Burrell run wild. Fraley went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Burrell went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. That's the most doubles Burrell has posted over her last 12 contests. Another player making a difference was Campbell Mermis, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Baldwin does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Spring Hill, they will square off against Ottawa at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Broncos' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cyclones have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season.
