Volleyball Recap: Avon Eagles vs. Jackson Polar Bears
The Avon Eagles were able to grind out a solid victory over the Jackson Polar Bears on Saturday, taking the game 2-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.
While Avon might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Jackson scored at least 19 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-19.
Bethany Sherwood paced Avon's offense, picking up nine kills. Sherwood got some help from Lily Hamilton and her 12 assists. Finally, Sherwood was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high two blocks.
Despite the loss, Jackson still got an impressive performance from Alece Evanto, who had 12 digs. Evanto is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 12 or more in each of the last four games she's played dating back to last season.
Avon's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Jackson, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.
Avon has already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against North Ridgeville on the 19th. As for Jackson, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against GlenOak on the 26th.
