Basketball Game Preview: Harvest Prep Warriors vs. Federal Hocking Lancers

The Harvest Prep Warriors will face off against the Federal Hocking Lancers at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Harvest Prep has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 220 points over their last three games.

Harvest Prep is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. Everything went their way against Cardington-Lincoln as Harvest Prep made off with a 59-36 win. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 160th, while the Pirates are ranked 328th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Maliyah Lofton continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 6-for-9 from beyond the arc en route to 22 points along with six rebounds and five assists. Her evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Mo'Nae Gamble, who posted two points in addition to 13 boards and five steals.

Harvest Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in ten consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Federal Hocking strolled past Portsmouth West with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 50-35. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lancers.

Harvest Prep has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-13 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.8 points over those games. Federal Hocking's record is now 17-7.

Harvest Prep didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Federal Hocking in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 67-61 victory. Will Harvest Prep repeat their success, or does Federal Hocking have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
