Meanwhile, Cleveland faced Artesia in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. Cleveland was the clear victor by a 7-1 margin over Artesia. The Storm haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

La Cueva pushed their record up to 10-2 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Cleveland, their win bumped their record up to 9-5.

La Cueva skirted past Cleveland 3-2 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will La Cueva repeat their success, or does Cleveland has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
