Baseball Recap: Jurupa Valley's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

After a string of four wins, Jurupa Valley's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of the Western Christian Fighting Lancers by a score of 4-3.

Andrew Padilla put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 6.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits. Padilla was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, Nathan Martinez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-3. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Christian Del Rio, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Jurupa Valley's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Western Christian, the win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-3.

Coming up, Jurupa Valley will be taking part in a tournament against Palm Springs at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Jurupa Valley's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Palm Springs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Western Christian, they will challenge Mountain View at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Mountain View will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
