Basketball Recap: Westwood Comes Up Short

Westwood lost against Centennial back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Westwood Panthers took an 81-65 bruising from the Centennial Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 231st, while the Eagles are ranked 64th).

Jeremy Felix continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Centennial, going 8 for 16 on his way to 24 points in addition to six assists and six boards. That's the most assists Felix has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Felix Buroz, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 12 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Westwood dropped their record down to 8-8 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Centennial, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-5.

Westwood will welcome South Fork at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Centennial, they and Central will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. One thing working in Centennial's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 11 matchups.
