Manchester hadn't done well against Powhatan recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Lancers had just enough and edged out the Indians 1-0. The win was familiar territory for the Lancers, who have now won three matches in a row.

The result came thanks to Cam Winiarski's shutout, as she gave up just five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Emma Newsom, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one double. That stolen base was her first of the season.

Manchester's record now sits at 9-5. As for Powhatan, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.
