Recap: Atlanta Classical Academy Cavaliers vs. Christian Heritage Lions
After a string of five wins, the Atlanta Classical Academy Cavaliers's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 90-71 bruising from Christian Heritage. While losing is never fun, Atlanta Classical Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 260th, while Christian Heritage is ranked 37th).
Despite the loss, Atlanta Classical Academy still got an impressive performance from Miller McGowan, who dropped a double-double on 35 points and 11 rebounds. McGowan is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Owen McGowan was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with three steals and two blocks.
Atlanta Classical Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 13-5. As for Christian Heritage, their win was their 26th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-2.
Atlanta Classical Academy will take on Southwest Atlanta Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Southwest Atlanta Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 on Saturday. Christian Heritage won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Darlington at 5:30 p.m. on January 13th. Darlington knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully Christian Heritage likes a good challenge.
