Baseball Recap: West Side Comes Up Short

West Side and Taylor squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but West Side had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 7-5. The Eagles' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

West Side handed starting duties to Keegan Towell, who gave a strong showing despite the result: he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Towell has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Brooks Hipp was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for West Side: the team is 14-3 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-9 otherwise. Branson Bittle was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
