Softball Recap: North Stafford's Run of Six Straight Wins Now Over

North Stafford dropped their record down to 9-5 on Friday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Riverbend Bears. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bears this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-5 back in April.

Kaylie DeChicchis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on 11 hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, North Stafford saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaylee Lizardo, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base. Hailey Hernandez also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

As for Riverbend, the win (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 15-3. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games.

On Riverbend's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Chloe King gave up only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up 13 Ks.

On the hitting side, Ryleigh Livesay was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Maddie Baugh was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. North Stafford will take on rival Stafford at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Riverbend is set to square off against their familiar foe Colonial Forge at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
