Central waltzed into their match on Monday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Kelly Hawks. The Tigers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Hawks, too.

Central's win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jathan Spain, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. Hayden Bowers was another, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 9.4.

Central's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-8. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Kelly, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-12.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central will venture away from home to challenge Hillsboro at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Kelly, they will square off against St. Vincent at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hawks are facing the Indians at the right time seeing as the Indians are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
