Softball Recap: Highlands Beats Lanier for Their Third Straight Win

Highlands entered their tilt with Lanier on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Voks 14-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 15-0 back in March.

Ciera Garcia was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five). She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs.

In other batting news, Alyna Oppelt was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and two doubles. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jenesis Rodriguez, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.

Highlands was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .519. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .304 or higher in four consecutive matches.

Highlands' win bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Lanier, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 13 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-15-1 record this season.
