Baseball Recap: Somerset Academy Comes Up Short

If Somerset Academy was feeling good fresh off their 9-2 takedown of Sunset last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Somerset Academy Panthers wound up with the same score they had in their last game (9-2), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. They have struggled against the Patriots recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Julio Cardoso was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off one hit.

At the plate, Christian Cordero made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Matthew Fari?as also deserves some recognition as he stolen his first stolen base of the season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Somerset Academy fell to 3-1. As for American Heritage, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-1.

Coincidentally, Somerset Academy and American Heritage will both be playing Archbishop McCarthy the next time they take the field. American Heritage will host Archbishop McCarthy at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while Somerset Academy will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
