Woodside (Newport News, Va.) ended the nation's longest current win streak at 52 games with a 14-9 victory at Phoebus (Hampton, Va.).

Following a Phoebus turnover, Jalil Moore scored what proved to be the winning touchdown on a 9-yard run with just less than 10 minutes remaining.

The home team would get two more cracks, but Woodside's defense held.

That means Hamilton (Chandler, Ariz.), No. 24 in the MaxPreps Xcellent 25 national rankings, now owns the nation's longest win streak. After a 44-14 win over Basha (Chandler, Ariz.), Hamilton has now won 49 straight.

Phoebus (7-1) led 3-0 at halftime following a 36-yard field goal from Eric Enderson. The drive was set up by fine play from senior receiver Romond Deloatch.

In the third quarter, Woodside (9-0) finally struck. Quarterback Donnell Lewis connected with D.J. Miller on a 60-yard touchdown to go up 7-3.

As its done throughout its streak, Phoebus struck right back. Deloatch caught a short pass from Enderson and turned it into a 50-yard touchdown, making it 9-7 midway through the third quarter.

The last loss for Phoebus was 38-24 to Stone Bridge in the 2007 Division 5 state finals.

According to the dailypress.com, Woodside quarterback Donnell Lewis rushed for 94 yards, passed for 88, added an interception that set up the winning score.

He also had a key punt that pinned Phoebus back to its 3-yard line with 2:35 left.

On defense, Woodside was led by Tyler Hargrove (four pass deflections) and Andy Ruckman (interception).

"This is wonderful," Lewis told the dailypress.com. "We expect to win every game no matter who it is."

Said Woodside coach Danny Dodson: "This is one of the best weeks of practice we've had in quite some time. They were prepared."

Phoebus wasn't ready for Miller's 60-yard touchdown pass from Lewis that put Woodside up 7-3.

But Anderson's 50-yard pass to Deloatch gave Phoebus back the lead until Lewis made a big interception on the final play of the third quarter. Woodside had to go just 29 yards in five plays before Moore scored the game-winner.

Phoebus got as close as the Woodside 24, but Hargrove knocked down two consecutive passes to stall the drive.
