Softball Recap: Friday's Victory Is Brownwood's Sixth in Last Seven Outings

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Brownwood had no problem doing just that on Friday. They walked away with a 12-8 victory over the Decatur Eagles. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 7-5 on Thursday.

Kaydence Allen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jeniffer Romero was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Tynlea Wilson was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Brownwood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Brownwood has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-11 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Decatur, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-10.

Brownwood will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Eagles: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled on Saturday.
