Softball Recap: Merritt Island Comes Up Short

After flying high against Space Coast last Friday, Merritt Island came back down to earth. The Merritt Island Mustangs fell just short of the Astronaut War Eagles by a score of 8-7 on Wednesday. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the War Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Elena Rollen was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. Rollen is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's stole at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Mady Hardin was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Merritt Island now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Astronaut, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to a perfect 2-0.
