Softball Game Preview: El Camino Real Royals vs. Chatsworth Chancellors

El Camino Real is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Wednesday. They will be playing in front of their home fans against the Chatsworth Chancellors at 3:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

On Monday, El Camino Real made easy work of Roosevelt and carried off an 11-1 win. The Royals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by six runs or more this season.

Audrina Gonzalez was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). Those six strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nerissa Winokur, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Sarah Delgado, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

El Camino Real always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, Chatsworth scored the most runs they've had this season on Monday, but it wasn't enough. They fell just short of Faith Baptist by a score of 11-10. The Chancellors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The victory got El Camino Real back to even at 8-8. As for Chatsworth, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.

El Camino Real took their win against Chatsworth when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 16-0 score. Will the Royals repeat their success, or do the Chancellors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
