Basketball Recap: Faith Lutheran Falls Despite Big Games from Evangeline Hoff and Tara Leicht

Faith Lutheran was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. The match between them and the Lakewood Presbyterian Knights didn't end well, with the Faith Lutheran Lions falling 41-27. The Lions were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Knights earlier this season, when they won 58-17.

Tara Leicht and Evangeline Hoff certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Leicht posted 12 points, while Hoff earned ten points. That was a full 44.4% of Faith Lutheran's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's scored more than a third of the team's points. Sara Ponnaboyena also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

Lakewood Presbyterian found their leader in sophomore Zoeh Kinson, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 boards. With that strong performance, Kinson is now averaging an impressive 8.2 rebounds per game. Maya Kinson was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to seven boards and four steals.

Faith Lutheran's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Lakewood Presbyterian, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-12.

Faith Lutheran wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 0-0 loss against Faustina Academy on the 27th. As for Lakewood Presbyterian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 40-38 defeat against Trinity Christian Academy on the 24th.
