Georgetown-Ridge Farm has gone 8-2 against Oakwood recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Buffaloes will square off against the Comets at 4:30 p.m. Georgetown-Ridge Farm is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.
Georgetown-Ridge Farm made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Iroquois West, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Buffaloes fell just short of the Raiders by a score of 4-2 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Buffaloes have suffered since April 6, 2024.
Chloe Stephenson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up ten Ks.
On the hitting side, Georgetown-Ridge Farm saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Pearson, who went 1-for-3 with one triple. Emersyn Wilson also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Oakwood came out on top against Westville on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fifth inning. The Comets sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 victory over the Tigers. The game was the first time the Comets have beaten the Tigers on their field since April 10, 2019.
Irene Rangel made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bella Bradford, who fired off two home runs and six RBI while going 2-for-3. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high.
Oakwood has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-9-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Georgetown-Ridge Farm, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-16.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Georgetown-Ridge Farm has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Oakwood struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Georgetown-Ridge Farm suffered a grim 18-3 defeat to Oakwood in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Buffaloes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
