Baseball Recap: Bethlehem Center Bulldogs vs. Brownsville Falcons

Bethlehem Center had lost five straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 2-7 to make it six. They fell just short of the Brownsville Falcons by a score of 3-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 13-5 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2022.

Brody Bebout spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits.

On the hitting side, Bethlehem Center saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eli Wright, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one RBI.

As for Brownsville, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-5. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.5 runs across that stretch.

On Brownsville's side, Nash Petroff made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk). Petroff also tossed a walk, which is notable because Brownsville is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 1-4 otherwise. Petroff was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Hunter Pelehac was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024.

Looking ahead, Bethlehem Center will square off against Carmichaels at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Mighty Mikes' pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Brownsville, they will challenge Keystone Oaks at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
