Baseball Recap: The Pilgrim Academy Comes Up Short

The Pilgrim Academy couldn't beat LEAP Academy on Thursday even though they stacked five runs on them in the third inning. The Pioneers lost 20-10 to the Lancers. The Pioneers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lancers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2025.

Johnny Monroe and Owen Seavey stepped up to the plate in a big way. Monroe went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI, while Seavey got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That home run was Monroe's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brennan Ruga, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

This is the second loss in a row for The Pilgrim Academy and nudges their season record down to 4-10. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for LEAP Academy, their win bumped their record up to 10-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. The Pilgrim Academy will square off against Veritas Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for LEAP Academy, they will face off against Penns Grove at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
