Basketball Recap: Norwich Free Academy Takes a Loss

Norwich Free Academy lost against New London back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Norwich Free Academy Wildcats fell 54-46 to the New London Whalers. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 53rd, while the Whalers are ranked fourth).

New London got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jayvon Robinson out in front who went 6 for 9 to rack up 18 points and six boards. Robinson is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jaxyn Beaudet, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 13 rebounds.

Norwich Free Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. As for New London, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-3.

Coming up, Norwich Free Academy will look to defend their home court on Friday against East Lyme at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (East Lyme has three straight victories, Norwich Free Academy has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court. As for New London, they will take on East Hartford at 6:45 p.m. on Monday.
