Softball Recap: Prairie View Buffalos vs. Wellsville Eagles

Prairie View extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping them down to 8-15. They came up short against the Wellsville Eagles, falling 11-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-1 on Tuesday.

Kelsee Haupt made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Kennisyn Gochenour was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

As for Wellsville, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-7. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by six runs or more this season.

On Wellsville's side, Brinlee Hartman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Hartman was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs.

In other batting news, Tatum Courter and Kailynn Rice did most of the damage at the plate: Courter got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Rice went 2-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs Rice has posted over her last nine matchups. Another player making a difference was Ava Stites, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
