Baseball Game Preview: Calhoun Sandcrabs vs. Tuloso-Midway Warriors & Cherokees

The Calhoun Sandcrabs will square off against the Tuloso-Midway Warriors & Cherokees on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Calhoun is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They walked away with a 9-4 victory over Needville. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Sandcrabs.

Ricky Martinez was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Demetrio Rodriguez, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and two doubles.

Meanwhile, Tuloso-Midway entered their tilt with Hidalgo on Friday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They came out on top against the Pirates by a score of 6-2.

Tuloso-Midway pushed their record up to 24-8-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Calhoun, their win bumped their record up to 16-14-1.

Calhoun suffered a grim 11-3 defeat to Tuloso-Midway in their previous matchup back in March of 2019. Can the Sandcrabs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
