Preview: Mangham Dragons vs. Oak Grove Tigers
The Mangham Dragons will square off against the Oak Grove Tigers at TBD on Friday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Mangham sitting on six straight wins and Oak Grove on eight.
Mangham extended their postseason success on Friday against Centerville. They breezed by the Bulldogs on the road to the tune of 53-14. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Mangham just coasted through the last quarter.
Meanwhile, Oak Grove stacked a eighth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Lake Arthur 49-20 at home. Given Oak Grove's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana football rankings (they are ranked 57th, while Lake Arthur is ranked 220th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jay Freeman continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 155 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries. Brodie Stuart did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 94 receiving yards and a touchdown.
The last time Mangham lost on the road was back back in September. Having now won four straight away games, they've pushed their record up to 7-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.0 points per game. As for Oak Grove, their victory bumped their record up to 9-2.
Mangham lost to Oak Grove on the road by a decisive 28-12 margin in their previous meeting back in September. Can Mangham avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
