Basketball Recap: Demaja Dunston Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Lakeland

Mid Valley won the last time they faced Lakeland and things went their way on Monday too. The Mid Valley Spartans enjoyed a cozy 52-36 victory over the Lakeland Chiefs.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mid Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Demaja Dunston, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 16 points along with six rebounds and five steals. The contest was Dunston's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jeremy Cali, who went 6 for 15 en route to 17 points.

Mid Valley was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Lakeland lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being David Naniewicz, who posted nine points. Dylan Kopa was another key player, putting up nine points.

Mid Valley's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-7. As for Lakeland, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mid Valley will take on Western Wayne at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Mid Valley is facing Western Wayne at the right time seeing as Western Wayne is stuck on a five-game losing streak. Lakeland has already played their next game (against Dunmore), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
