Whitney barely beat Granite Bay the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wildcats blew past the Grizzlies 7-1 on Friday. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Grizzlies recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Whitney got a great performance from Taylor Cordell as she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Cordell has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Tylie Kitchen, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Boyd, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Whitney's record now sits at 18-7. As for Granite Bay, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-11-1.
Coming up, Whitney will venture away from home to square off against St. Francis at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Granite Bay, they will square off against Del Oro at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Golden Eagles will roll in looking for their 14th straight victory, something the Grizzlies surely won't give up without a fight.
