Basketball Game Preview: Stanton County Trojans vs. Southwestern Heights Mustangs

The Stanton County Trojans will head out on the road to challenge the Southwestern Heights Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Stanton County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.9 points per game this season.

On Tuesday, Stanton County beat Elkhart 56-48. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 68th, while the Wildcats are ranked 236th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

David Crane continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 31 points and 15 rebounds. Those 31 points gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ronnie Andrade, who posted six points.

Meanwhile, Southwestern Heights unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They lost 65-45 to Lakin.

Southwestern Heights' loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-7. As for Stanton County, their win bumped their record up to 11-3.

Stanton County didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Southwestern Heights when the teams last played back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 53-48 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Stanton County since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
