Basketball Game Preview: Sunset Apollos vs. Mountainside Mavericks

Sunset hasn't had much luck against Mountainside recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Sunset Apollos will square off against the Mountainside Mavericks at 7:00 p.m. Sunset will be strutting in after a victory while Mountainside will be coming in after a loss.

Last Tuesday, Sunset earned a 60-49 win over Aloha. Given the Apollos' advantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked 54th, while the Warriors are ranked 229th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Mountainside had to suffer through a 64-35 loss at the hands of Westview.

Sunset is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. As for Mountainside, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-8.

Sunset ended up a good deal behind Mountainside in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, losing 65-49. Can Sunset avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
