Basketball Recap: Cardinal Stritch Takes a Loss

Cardinal Stritch was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were dealt a 50-21 defeat at the hands of the Toledo Christian Eagles. The Cardinals lost against the Eagles in their previous head to head back in February of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 77-21 score last time.

Despite the loss, Cardinal Stritch saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Amaya Hill dropped a double-double on 11 points and 15 boards. Hill is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least eight every time she's taken the court this season.

Even though they lost, Cardinal Stritch smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in five consecutive matchups.

Cardinal Stritch's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Toledo Christian, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.

Cardinal Stritch didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 29-27 win against Scott on the 6th. As for Toledo Christian, they are taking a road trip to square off against Northwood at 7:15 p.m. on January 10th.
