Baseball Recap: Cerro Gordo/Bement Comes Up Short

Cerro Gordo/Bement was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 13-6 to the Argenta-Oreana Bombers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bombers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-4 back in March.

Mike Freese made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season.

Cerro Gordo/Bement's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Argenta-Oreana, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-3.

Looking ahead, Cerro Gordo/Bement will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Mt. Pulaski at 4:30 p.m. The Hilltoppers will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Broncos surely won't give up without a fight. As for Argenta-Oreana, they will venture away from home to square off against Heyworth at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
