 Mater Academy Charter lost against Columbus back in April of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result  on Monday. The Mater Academy Charter Lions took  a  5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Columbus Explorers. Mater Academy Charter has not had much luck with Columbus recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
  Kevin Roque was a  force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he  struck out six batters over  five innings while giving up  three earned runs off   six  hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't  tossed less than five  strikeouts in four consecutive pitching appearances.
 At the plate,  Jonathan Esponda made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and  went 1-for-3 with a  home run.
 On Columbus' side,  Jason Vazquez tossed a big game,   pitching 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off   four  hits (he also only allowed one  walk).
 On the hitting side, Columbus let  Jose Correa and  Rafael Diaz loose on the outfield. Correa  scored a  run while going 2-for-3, while  Diaz  went 1-for-2 with two  RBI and a  double.
 Mater Academy Charter's loss  ended  a  three-game streak of wins at home  and  dropped them to 8-6. As for Columbus, their win  ended  a  three-game drought on the road  and  puts them at 9-4.
 Mater Academy Charter will  challenge Pembroke Pines Charter at 6:00  p.m.  on Wednesday. As for Columbus, they will be playing at home against Key West at 4:00  p.m.  on Wednesday. Columbus will be looking to keep their 15-game home win streak  dating back to last season alive.
