Lexi Coffman and Adleigh Lockett did most of the damage at the plate: Coffman went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Lockett got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two doubles gave Lockett a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Olivia Woods, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, Asbury beat Crossville 7-3 on Thursday.
Kathyrn Garrett spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on 14 hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, Abigail Webber was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season. Selena Andres Gaspar was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI.
Asbury was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in four consecutive games.
Asbury's win bumped their record up to 4-23. As for Valley Head, their victory bumped their record up to 13-18.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Valley Head hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .325. However, it's not like Asbury struggles in that department as they've averaged .337. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Valley Head got the 'W' when the teams last played on Monday against Asbury by a conclusive 14-0 score. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Rams have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
