Baseball Game Preview: Tulpehocken Trojans vs. Lancaster Mennonite Blazers

The Tulpehocken Trojans will square off against the Lancaster Mennonite Blazers at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Tulpehocken's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They blew past Upper Dauphin Area 11-0. Tulpehocken has beaten Upper Dauphin Area the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest Upper Dauphin Area has come to flipping the script.

Hank Gehman and Cody Fox did most of the damage at the plate: Gehman scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4, while Fox scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Bowers, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Tulpehocken always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Upper Dauphin Area only posted an OBP of .370.

Meanwhile, Lancaster Mennonite gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by an 18-0 margin over La Academia Charter.

Westin Rhine was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Landon Nyveldt was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Tulpehocken now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Lancaster Mennonite, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
