Basketball Game Preview: Plainfield South Cougars vs. Joliet Central Steelmen

The Plainfield South Cougars will head out on the road to square off against the Joliet Central Steelmen at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Joliet Central took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Plainfield South, who comes in off a win.

It was a proper cat-fight when Plainfield South duked it out with Plainfield Central on Friday. Plainfield South blew past Plainfield Central 67-31. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Joliet Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 18th straight loss. They lost to Romeoville on the road by a 55-41 margin. While losing is never fun, the Steelmen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 513th, while the Spartans are ranked 159th).

Plainfield South pushed their record up to 17-9 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.8 points over those games. As for Joliet Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-24.

Plainfield South strolled past Joliet Central in their previous meeting back in December of 2024 by a score of 53-37. The rematch might be a little tougher for Plainfield South since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
