Recap: Central Tigers vs. St. Joseph Knights
The Central Tigers and the St. Joseph Knights (ranked 48 and 47 in the MaxPreps national rankings respectively) squared off in a high-profile matchup. Central ended up on the wrong side of a rough 57-36 walloping at the hands of St. Joseph on Friday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Central has scored all season.
St. Joseph was led to victory by Julius Price and Tounde Yessoufou. Price scored 21 points along with six rebounds and five assists, while Yessoufou dropped a double-double on 28 points and 12 rebounds. The contest was Yessoufou's 13th in a row with at least ten points. Abdoul Bare was another key contributor, scoring six points along with ten rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Central and nudges their season record down to 12-3. As for St. Joseph, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-1.
Central and Olympia will face off at 3:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. St. Joseph will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Pasadena at 6:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
