Volleyball Recap: Waverly's Winning Streak Snapped at Three Games

If Waverly was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Portsmouth West on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Tigers fell 3-1 to the South Webster Jeeps on Thursday. The Tigers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Jeeps earlier this season, when they won 3-0.

Waverly actually scored more points across those four sets (90-89), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-22, 14-25, 25-21.

Despite the loss, Waverly still got an impressive performance from Hadley Ramsey, who had 20 digs. Ramsey is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 12 or more in each of the last seven games she's played.

South Webster was led to victory by Kinley Horner and Avary Claxon. Horner had 12 digs, while Claxon had 17 kills, 16 digs, and two aces. That's the most kills Claxon has posted over her last six matchups.

The defeat snapped Waverly's winning streak at three matches and leaves them with a 17-5 record. As for South Webster, their win bumped their record up to 13-9.

Coming up, Waverly will venture away from home to take on Warren at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. South Webster does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
