Baseball Game Preview: Rio Lindo Adventist Spartans vs. Laytonville Warriors

The Rio Lindo Adventist Spartans will take on the Laytonville Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Rio Lindo Adventist will be strutting in after a win while Laytonville will be coming in after a loss.

Rio Lindo Adventist will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on March 6th, then bounced right back against Roseland Collegiate Prep on March 10th. Rio Lindo Adventist blew past Roseland Collegiate Prep 21-2.

Vincent Barcenas and Jhordany Barcenas made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Barcenas pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Jhordany struck out eight batters over 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. At the plate, Barcenas scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Jhordany scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Jhordany has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lenard Paloma, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Hikaru Maeda, who scored two runs while going 1-for-1.

Meanwhile, Laytonville unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Grace Christian Academy on Tuesday.
