Softball Recap: Economedes Has No Trouble Against La Villa

It was a proper cat-fight when Economedes challenged La Villa on Tuesday. The Economedes Jaguars were the clear victor by a 12-2 margin over the La Villa Cardinals. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Jaguars also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2024.

Angela Cano and Miranda Aguirre did most of the damage at the plate: Cano scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Aguirre went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. The dominant performance gave Cano a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Evelyn Cano, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

The win made it two in a row for Economedes and bumps their season record up to 2-5. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 9.5 runs. As for La Villa, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.

Looking ahead, Economedes will challenge Nixon at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for La Villa, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against IDEA Edinburg College Prep at 6:00 p.m.
