Volleyball Recap: Academy of Science and Innovation Comes Up Short

Academy of Science and Innovation extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping their season record down to 4-9 in the process. They lost 3-0 to the Newington Nor'easters. If the Ravens were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Nor'easters when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Academy of Science and Innovation's offense was headlined by Sebastian Bidoae and Khamren Sutton, who picked up four kills apiece. They got some help from Demareon Taylor and his ten assists.

As for Newington, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. Winning may never get old, but they sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Among those leading the charge was Tristan Gorman, who had 17 assists and three digs. He has been hot for a while, having posted 17 or more assists the last 11 times he's played.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Academy of Science and Innovation will challenge Norwich Free Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Newington, they will take on Maloney at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Nor'easters are on a seven-game streak of home wins, the Spartans a seven-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind.
