Basketball Recap: Monday's Victory Is Palmer's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

Palmer won the last time they faced Air Academy, and J'Twane Mike did his part to make sure it happened again. The Palmer Terrors strolled past the Air Academy Kadets with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 66-49 thanks in part to Mike, who went 11-for-18 to rack up 25 points along with seven boards and four steals. His evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Zaveaun Hunter, who posted nine points. He is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last three games he's played.

Air Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Tommy Tygart, who went 6-for-11 en route to 17 points. Brody Winnett was another key player, putting up nine points and three steals.

Palmer has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to offensive rebounds: they averaged an imposing 13.88 offensive boards in those games compared to only 7.36 in the others. Air Academy is on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-18.

Palmer has already played their next contest, a 59-30 victory against Canon City on the 20th. As for Air Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 69-26 defeat against Lutheran on the 20th.
