Baseball Recap: Tri-County North Takes Down Lehman Catholic in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, Tri-County North rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Lehman Catholic Cavaliers by a score of 8-5. This was payback for the Panthers, who suffered a 6-5 loss the last time these two teams met.

Malachi Wright spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Zach Jean, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Peyton Fannin, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

Tri-County North's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-9. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Lehman Catholic, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 13-9 record.

As of now, neither Tri-County North nor the Cavaliers have any future games scheduled.
