Baseball Recap: Carroll Takes a Loss

Carroll was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Geneva Panthers, falling 11-5. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Bryce Coleman put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while going 2-for-4. He has become a key player for Carroll: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 0-9 otherwise.

In other batting news, Grant Houston made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Carroll's defeat dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Geneva, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-10 record this season.

Carroll didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 14-4 win against New Brockton on the 17th. As for Geneva, they have also already played their next contest, a 17-4 victory against Daleville on the 18th.
